Taking it Easy Today!

27 Sep

I have two little girls here today and we are going to be taking it easy! Most days we spend half the day inside and half the day outside but since the weather is going to keep us from going out – I decided to take a practice day of keeping them entertained inside!

Since they are 2 and 3, their attention span is about 30 minutes. Here’s our usual schedule for a day that includes outdoor time:

8:30-9:00 Excitement to see each other which involves, hugs, kisses, chasing each other, and showing each other toys. Then they’ll usually “help” me get breakfast ready.

9:00-9:30 Breakfast time!

9:30-10:00 Free play time in the house.

10:30-11:00 We go for a walk.

11:00-11:30 Color or Play-Doh

11:30-12:00 They help me make lunch

OR

10:30-11:30 Park Time

11:30-12:00 They help me make lunch

12:00 Lunch

12:30-1:00 Quiet Time

1:00 -4:00 Nap Time

4:00 – 4:15 Snack

4:15 – 5:00 Puzzles, Reading Time, or Blocks usually.

So what I’ll need to do is find an indoor activity to keep us busy from 10:30-11:00. Some days we’ll bundle up and play out on the back patio but for those really cold or yucky days I wanted a few options to keep us entertained.

Today we are going to try music time. I’ve got a bunch of musical toys ready and I’m hoping it will include lots of dancing and giggling to get out all their energy!

Do you have any great ideas you’d love to share?

Thanks for stopping by.

Love Always,

J

Daily Life: There’s not enough hours in one day!

21 Apr

Today is my day off, my day of relaxation, my day of craftiness! I slept in an hour later than usual and got up in a fantastic mood! Got E out of bed, dressed, and fed. Then I decided I was going to spend 15 minutes on the computer and get straight to painting and that’s just what I did. I will say listening to a little someone throw tantrum after tantrum kind of made it hard to pay attention to what I was doing but by 11:30 today I finished one elephant frame and half of another one! Hoorayy!

We stopped for lunch and while I was checking updates and reading email I noticed something amazing!! A friend from my hometown church sent me a group link to this Dream Home Giveaway that St. Judes is having. Not to mention the fact that is exactly where I have been looking to move to for months upon months. B could easily get a new job and not have to suffer a pay cut, I could find a job even easier because I grew up in the area and already know my way around and people who live there. What a dream come true! So I go check it out, look at all the gorgeous pictures of the gorgeous home that’s more than we could ever ask for and click on the sign up sheet right away. Instantly disappointed. A ticket costs $100 dollars which goes to St. Judes (which is amazing) then they pull out a ticket raffle style in hopes that you win. B would never let me put money into this thing because let’s just say I rarely ever win anything and $100 bucks is a lot to give. I could probably talk him into one ticket but what are the chances we’ll get it with one ticket??! Then I had this BRILLIANT idea of selling things on Etsy for it to go to St. Jude’s so I could add whatever I make for tickets for the house, then decided it wouldn’t work. Then I had another BRILLIANT IDEA, ask everyone we know to help donate to St. Judes in hopes that we win the home, then decided nobody would want to do that. Oh and there’s the little detail that I only have four days to send in the money for a ticket. So here I am, drooling over this gorgeous home I’ll never have 😦

I guess I shouldn’t have checked my facebook today because that has been a serious distraction!

Which leads me to know, it’s already 2:00. It took me all morning to get E dressed, fed, and ready for the day. After I ate and sat down it was 10:15. By the time I got to crafting it was 10:30 so I got a good hour in. Then it’s lunch time. Get food ready for E, give her snacks until it’s ready, fix it for her, then find something for me, get it ready, eat, get her to eat more (because she rarely eats lunch well for me), get her cleaned up, her mess of high chair cleaned up, my stuff cleaned up (which doesn’t always happen right away), by the time I finish all that it’s bottle and bed time for E. Fix her a bottle (which I am trying to get her to sip out of instead of using a bottle top so we can be a big girl and get rid of bottles) so I sit there with her while she drinks it, prepared for a mess, end up cleaning the mess, putting E to bed and it’s 1:30.

Took pictures of the frames, wrote a blog post, and updated my facebook and now it’s 2:00. B will be home in two hours. I still have more cleaning up to do from the million messes my child makes, and I am exhausted. Do I really only get two hours in the day to have free time? This just seems ridiculous! For some reason, I thought I actually had more time in the day, especially on my days off but apparently not!! Looks like i’ll be searching for a new daily routine!! One that includes a little less cleaning and a little more free time 😉 haha I must be dreaming again!!

Anybody want to come entertain my child for a few hours tonight so I can have some free time to do some crafting? Or Saturday!!? Haha.

Love Always,

J

Super Fun & Super Excited

16 Jan

This weekend has been seriously busy! B and I had dinner at Red Lobster and to the movies to see The Dilemma Friday night. We had a gift card to Red Lobster so our tab was $0.57 yeah that was awesome!! Then we had two free tickets to the movies so that was completely free!!!! Super saving Friday!

Then Saturday we relaxed all morning and went out to Not Your Average Joe’s restaurant for Nana’s birthday celebration! That was so much fun!! E was flirting with three boys at the table across from us and B was trying to distract her the whole time. Lets me just point it out to you that B has been saying that she’s not going to date until she’s forty and the only guy that she will ever love is him… so you can imagine his horror of her flirting with other boys 😀 Then of course she played with Papa and Dodo in the booth seats. It is so much fun to watch her now that she is so independent and full of personality. Then after that we went with J&S to an apartment party with the Tech crew 🙂 That was a blast!! B and I haven’t been out to a party since before E was born! It was soo much fun getting out of the house and talking to adults instead of speaking baby language all day 😛 B was so excited, we went to a wine store before the apartment and he found Santana DVX. If any of you have heard of Lonely Island, you know what I am talking about! He’s still raving about it today haha.

Then today! My bestie from college and her boyfriend came to visit. They are the most relaxed, fun, easy-going people ever! I love them to death. I met her on orientation day for college and we hit it off right away. Then when school actually started she the person that I got the closest too. It’s like I had known her all my life and the more time we spent together the closer we got. Out of all the friends that have come in and out of my life there’s only about 3 that I would say have been above and beyond the most amazing friends ever and she is definitely one of them!

So as you can imagine, our weekend was super packed with things to do but at the same time it was relaxing and a whole lot of fun!

Which leads me to this week:

So since I have been completely slacking in my list of things to do and craftiness I have decided to dedicate this week to getting things accomplished! A few projects that I have planned up my sleeve 😉

A t-shirt for E with obviously the letter E on it, and decorative flowers on the bottom corner.

A t-shirt for my Cousins little boy with a theme on the front and the letters of his name on the back.

I still need to make the window seat cover and curtains for the living room but I haven’t really had the money to buy the fabric so that might be something I can do next week.

Then I am going to continue crocheting T’s blanket (LOVE HER SO MUCH!!) I am on skane number 4 out of 8 so halfway there and I still have two more weeks to get to skane number 7! Originally I was going to be happy if I got to number 5 but apparently I have been busting through these skanes like it’s nothing so I am going to try to get to seven by the end of the month!

Then E’s jacket .. oh I still haven’t had the guts to take it apart yet .. maybe next week.

Thank you cards are a must! I don’t know why I keep forgetting these suckers but when I think of what I need to get done it’s usually the laundry, cooking, cleaning, and I completely forget about those cards! I think I am going to take them out of the box and put them on the table so I see it and it annoys me until I do them 😉

Tomorrow my Mom, E, and my Cousins little boy are going to go fabric shopping for the t-shirts so I can get started on that this week 🙂 I am hoping it’s a quick easy find because going with two toddlers to a crafty store seems a little dangerous to me!! haha.

I’ll keep you updated with pictures this weekend as I go!

Love Always,

J
